“SOMETIMES WE THINK THAT CITIES ARE NOT A MISSION FIELD. IN CHILE MORE THAN 83% OF THE POPULATION LIVES IN URBAN PLACES, IF WE ARE GOING TO REACH CHILE WE HAVE TO REACH THE CITIES.”
We are a pionner base and our forte is urban missions. Our vision is to raise up a large family of ministries in the city, focused on affecting and transforming areas of society.
One of the main words God spoke to us is found in Jeremiah 29:7, which says: Seek the peace of the city to which I allowed you to be brought. Pray to the Lord for it, for if it has peace, you will also have peace.
FOCUS
Within the missions there are two main focuses: the unreached and the spheres of society. Although we always have the unreached at heart, our work focuses mainly on the latter, the spheres of society.
During this time we are developing missionary initiatives in 4 of the 7 spheres: Business, Communications, Religion and Family.
YOUTH WITH A MISSION
A GLOBAL MOVEMENT
Youth with a Mission is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus around the world.
Also known as YWAM, we unite in a common purpose to know God and make Him known. When we began in 1960, our primary focus was to help young people get involved in missions.
Today, we still focus on youth and also include people of all ages. Today our staff is composed of tens of thousands of people (called “Jucumeros”) from almost every country, including places like Indonesia, Nepal, Mozambique and Colombia.
We have had a presence in Chile since 1979. For more than 40 years YWAM CHILE has served in the missionary call of thousands of young people and collaborated with the Chilean church in the development of workers, pastors and leaders trained to fulfill the Great Commission; as well as with the formation of many churches and ministries.
All our workers are full-time volunteers, women and men who have left everything to serve the Lord in the call He gave them.
UNIVERSITY OF THE NATIONS
Founded on biblical principles, the University of the Nations (UofN) fulfills its commitment to Christ and His Great Commission by equipping men and women with spiritual, cultural, intellectual and professional training and inspiring them to continually grow in their personal relationship with God and to make Him known among all peoples in all nations.
UofN employs a modular system with 12 weeks of classroom courses. Some courses require field internships or field assignments in their area of study. In addition, it focuses on preparing students to serve in all spheres of society and in all nations. The goal of the UofN is to teach students to apply biblical truth in practical ways and to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
The core program of the UofN is the Discipleship Training School (DTS) which is a prerequisite for all other courses at the University.
At this time, approximately 15,000 students are taking one or more registered courses in 97 languages, in 142 nations, at 600 locations each year. We expect to see these and other new courses multiply in additional languages and other locations, especially in the developing world.
While UofN has not applied for accreditation in any nation’s educational system, several accredited institutions around the world accept UofN students and transfer credits.
